SunMaid Association of Victoria Incorporated

Introduction

The SunMaid Association of Victoria Inc was formed in 1975 by the owners of the first group of SunMaids, built that year. It grew to a financial membership of 120 and settled to a steady annual renewal rate of about 100, representing reasonable coverage of SunMaid and SunBird owners in Victoria and coverage of some interstate owners.

The main objective of the Association is to foster the SunMaid 20 and SunBird 25 classes of trailable yachts for the enjoyment of their owners and the consolidation of their investment. The Association offers a wide range of services to its members. These include:

Each year the Association holds the Victorian Championship Series at Royal Geelong Yacht Club, and from time to time stages Australian Championships at various locations. The SunMaid 20 was first designed as a safe family cruising vessel but has proved to be an excellent racing boat, winning its division in several of the major trailable yachting events. Each year a large number of SunMaids enter the Marlay Point Overnight Race and several take part in other classic events.

The SunBird 25 has established itself at the very top of the trailable yacht field. It has an excellent racing record to complement its immense appeal as a cruising yacht. The design of trailable yachts demands special skills which are clearly demonstrated by their widely experienced New Zealand designer, John Brooke, in the SunMaid 20 and SunBird 25 trailable yachts.

The SunMaid Association is an active, organisation with something to offer everyone, whether your interest is in racing, cruising or just messing about in boats.
